This summer Steinunn´s show ARMORS is on view in Fort Tryon Park in New York City. ARMORS is a site specific installation placed on the Cloisters Lawn. Steinunn positions three androgynous figures in human like dialogue with 3 different suits of armor that were cast from a custom 3D scan of carefully chosen medieval suits of armor from The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s permanent collection. ARMORS has proved immensely popular and it was on The New York Times list of "Outdoor art installations to get excited about". ARMORS is staged in collaboration with New York City Parks Public Art Program and is on view through September 12th 2018.

Targeted Interventions

in Dresden´s Museum of Military History

Another successful exhibition this summer shows Steinunn´s multi figure installation TROPHIES on the MHM building´s roof and facade. The figures replace old trophies that disappeared in 1943. Steinunn´s TROPHIES have a fundamentally different sensibility. In the show are also noted artists Birgit Dieker, Louise Bourgeois, The Guerilla Girls and more. Targeted Interventions is staged in conjunction with the museum´s special exhibition Gender and Violence. The project has attracted a lot of interest and ARTE TV recently visited Steinunn´s studio to work on a forthcoming documentary about the exhibition. On view through October 30th, 2018.
